On Park Serve Day we worked with the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) on a section of the Southern New England Trunkline Trail (SNETT) between Aldrich Street and Chocolog Street in Uxbridge.
This section was overgrown and had a number of trees down. This workday entailed a lot of sweat equity for our morning’s work. We had two people running chainsaws and one running the brush cutter. The other volunteers stacked all the cut material and stacked it on the sides to be chipped at a later date.
This section is going to need a lot of work. The drainage ditches are blocked, so, consequently, we have water running down the middle of the trail. However, it all starts with the first step!
Our volunteers for this workday put in a total of 56.75 hours worth $1,645.75
