DESCRIPTION:Ride sponsored by Visimark & Stethoscope.com\nNorthfield Mountain is a four-season recreation destination with a wide variety of environmental and recreation programs. Public access to the land was mandated as a part the building of the resident hydroelectric facility. \nWith 25 miles of trails along the side of the mountain\, these cross country ski trails are open to other uses including horseback riding in the no-snow months. DESCRIPTION:Ride sponsored by EquidDoc Veterinary Services\nA hunter pace is a marked course through the trails with varying types of jumps. All jumps are under three feet and have an optional “go around”. One can ride solo or in teams of two or three. \nWe offer four divisions\, with three different paces. The Hunter Division is the fastest division (mostly trotting & cantering and some walking). Hilltop and Junior are the middle speed division (mostly trotting with walking & cantering)\, and Trail Blazer Division is the slowest division (mostly walking & trotting). \nThe pace is set before the ride and riders don’t know what the optimum time is for each division. Your mission is to come as close as possible to the optimum time. \nThis is New England so the terrain can be quite varied. Trails will cover nice wide rail road beds to narrow single track trails. \nOut on the trail\, use caution when passing other riders\, slow down and call out your intention to pass. Never pass at a canter. If you knock over a jump\, you must reset that jump.
