December 3rd – Giving Tuesday
December 3, 2019
Please Support BSTRA for #Giving Tuesday
#Giving Tuesday has been gaining in participation across the nation, and BSTRA is looking forward to being part of this movement again this year.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with #Giving Tuesday, it is a global annual movement falling on December 3rd this year – a day for everyone, everywhere to give to nonprofit organizations in order to help them do good in the communities they serve. Providing an opportunity for businesses and individuals to make those final tax-deductible donations for the year, #Giving Tuesday encourages support of nonprofit organizations that make a positive difference in their community. Although December 3rd is #Giving Tuesday, the majority of #Giving Tuesday donations actually take place during October through December 3rd.
We at BSTRA hope you will select our nonprofit to be the recipient of donations that will be put to work right here in our local area where the community really benefits. BSTRA couldn’t take on all its trail improvement projects – like our 2019 $80,000 project in the Upton State Forest — without the support of the community, and #Giving Tuesday encourages local businesses and individuals to help us with funding projects which have a positive impact on user groups who enjoy the State forests and parks for outdoor recreation and fitness. Since our Officers and Board of Directors are all unpaid volunteers, we are able to put 100 percent of the donations we receive into trails. That’s pretty impressive when you look at most other nonprofit organizations. Use the form published here in the Bugle or make an online donation at www.bstra.org/donate for more information and to get started — and since BSTRA is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations are tax-deductible.
With an extensive track record of dependability, credibility and accomplishment, BSTRA is a good choice to receive local support. Since 1989, BSTRA has put more than $617,775 into trails within State Forests and Parks within 34 towns in Massachusetts, including Bellingham, Brimfield, Carlisle, Carver, Douglas, Franklin, Ipswich, Mendon, Middleboro, Peru, Shirley, Upton, Uxbridge, Warwick and Wilbraham, as well as Eastford (CT) and Pascoag, Burrillville and Exeter (RI).
If you are concerned about the loss of trails and lack of trail maintenance in your area, we invite you to be part of the solution by making a tax-deductible donation to BSTRA. It’s an easy way to support trails in your community whether you use them for walking your dog, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, or to take the family out to enjoy nature. That is what #Giving Tuesday is all about – getting people to support the things that matter to them. BSTRA believes that trails for all to enjoy are important assets to the community, and it has been our mission to help create, maintain and preserve trails for community use since 1973. We hope you will support us between now and the end of the year — and together we can make a difference as part of the #Giving Tuesday movement.
